Mr. Gardner’s columns display the very worst of intellectual dishonesty. For example, he loves to bash Democrats and liberals for running up the national debt, but conveniently forgets to address the issue that the Republican presidents of the past 30 years have done much more to add to the national debt than the democrats. Only one president in the past 30 years has had a balanced budget, and that was Bill Clinton. And I’m not speaking as a Democrat party loyalist; in about 25 votes I have made for national-level offices (presidents, senators, representatives), I’ve probably voted for a democrat 4 or 5 times; the rest of the votes have been for republicans or independents.

Mr. Gardner’s articles represent the essence of what is wrong with American politics today. Too much demonizing, deception, and partisan loyalty, and too little intellectual discourse.

In these ramblings, we were taken on a journey, if you will– we left Point A, went down the hill, across the creek, around the corner and back up the hill to get to Point B, when there were only of 5 steps between point A and point B had we stayed “on the hill”.
