The link to the SDN piece on the budget.
Interesting quote:
However, city departments may be waived of their obligation to pay for electricity and water service, recouping $950,000, which leaves it with approximately a $400,000 difference in the revenue it would have taken from the fees.
Does that create a $950k shortfall at SED? Who pays for that? Does the electric hike mentioned late in the article include this shortfall?

Looks like a bunch of smoke and mirrors to me.
Looks like this is what they should have been focused on all along vs focusing on peripheral issues.
The members of the board are probably all basically good people, but they are kids with text book knowledge – no experience or wisdom, learning as they go, at our expense. Does that pretty much sum it up?
Post election, this is what we have: One alderman in the hip pocket of special interest groups, one alderman controlled by the developers, one alderman who just wants to be the popular guy, one reluctant alderman, an alderman who preaches to the crowd, another alderman who marches to the preacher’s beat, and one alderman who actually listens to his constituents and votes accordingly. Did I overlook anyone?
Amazed & MaryAnn- I think you both sum it up pretty accurately.
I can see the next line up – BoardtownDawg, Mary Ann, Butch and Amazed – all we need is four more to round it out!
The city is also “charging” Parks & Rec $75K/year to keep their books, even though they do not have a choice in the matter. The city just can’t keep their hands off the 2% money and why is Lynn Spruill still working for the city? She should have been the first one Wiseman put out to the street.
Ms. Spruill knows that if the kids weren’t running the show that she would have been the first to go. Young Wiseman needs her so he can practice law and whatever else he’s up to.
LS has a conflict of interest with her appointed position. She is a developer currently expanding Greenbriar. The City Planner reports to her. He is Chair of the Site Plan Review Committee and makes recommendations to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Since we know she’s not going to give up the developing, seems to me she should do the right thing and voluntarily resign, but…
