They’ll be talking booze, so get there early

The first of two public hearings on Sunday alcohol sales will be held 5:30 PM, Tuesday night at the first Board of Alderman meeting of August.

The ledger appears to be Dumas, Sistrunk, Parker, Corey for with Perkins, Vaughn and Carver against. (It will be curious to see if the SN praise for Carver’s stances from P&Z morph into criticism as he comes out against Sunday sales.)

A few other things of interest are on the agenda, including:

G. 1. REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO ADVERTISE FOR PROPOSALS FOR THE DESIGN SERVICES FOR FIRE STATION NUMBER 5 WITH ACCEPTANCE OF PROPOSALS CONTINGENT UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE GRANT FUNDS.

A new fire station in the works?

Also, the Mayor is set to sign the TVA Generation Partners agreement. Hopefully, this will spur interest in using alternative energy methods like solar and wind. Combine this with the MDA’s $40 million for the state energy plans incentives, and you might spur some interest.
