Two separate mentions have surfaced that the Grill in the Cotton District may be moving from their namesake location to a new location near the rehabbed Borden plant. Will it then become the Grill at the Borden Plant? Anyway to strike a deal and get the bacon/cheddar cheesesticks back?
History tells us that this isn’t the best moved. Jim Mosier had the District Cafe in the current Grill location (with the BEST London Broil) then moved it to the University Inn in the early 90′s, where it died a slow and painful death.

I think it is a good move. I would imagine the Grill would want an atmosphere similar to their Tupelo location, gives a strong anchor to the new Borden plant, etc. Also, it gives a great opportunity to open an inside bar in the Cotton District.

Dan must really be trying to raise the rent for the owners to give up that location.

I can’t imagine The Grill being anywhere but the Cotton District. However, they ruined the atmosphere when they closed in the front. I used to love to sit out there. Even in the dead of Winter, the big heaters kept it warm.

If they move, I hope they consider a little more parking space than what they have now. Gotta have enough room to park the Family Truckster …

I am disappointed that the Grill will be moving. I cannot imagine the Borden plant location being more profitable than the Cotton District. The Grill is packed every football weekend, Bulldog Bash, Cotton District Arts Festival, etc. I am glad that there will be a strong anchor for the redevelopment of Lampkin Street but that will really hurt the Cotton District. However the Eat With Us Group is a lot smarter than I am and they know what they are doing. I wish them luck and I will continue to support their businesses.
The Cotton District location should be filled very quickly. Exciting changes in Starkville!

Jeremy,
I appreciate your honest input and your patronage. The press release will not go out today. I need to confirm some quotes etc. with the President. However, we ARE excited to be a part of this revitalization of the Borden Plant area and Lampkin Street. This is a great historic district that will further connect downtown, the Cotton District and MSU.
These ARE exciting times in Starkville! We are embracing the changes and we hope that the community will too. The Cotton District Grill Alumni will always be Grill Alumni. We hope that you will get your first class ticket to Central Station Grill once we open!

Thank you for the reference. Believe me, there was a lot of underhanded activity back then. Seems like it has gone full circle. I guess Robert Camp needs more space, Hmmm.
