StarkvilleNow Podcast- Matt Cox, Steve Rogers, Sumner Davis (Prt 1 of 7)

The debate didn’t happen, but Matt Cox was kind enough to allow WCBI’s Steve Rogers, Sumner Davis and Robbie Coblentz to question him on a variety of issues, including the Justice complex, land use and taxes.  This is the first of 7 segments and runs close to 10 minutes.

  1. Thom Geiger says:

Steve Rogers is still going to Starkville to poke a stick at Parker Wiseman. Come on Steve, let it go. You ignore what the voters in WCBI’s hometown want, just to dig on a guy who didn’t want you as the moderator at a debate in another town?

  2. Bully30 says:

Have anyone seen the new ad that is up against Matt Cox? It is attacking him on his record and it looks like he doesn’t have a good record. How could you vote against the police officers? And did he vote for a tax increase and say we are willing to pay more. I voted for Matt the first time, but I am changing my vote to Parker Wiseman. I think we pay to many taxes already.

  3. Johnathan says:

My Vote is for Matt! Parker’s ad does not have substance. Someone needs to give Parker an education in strategic politics. His negative attacks are not neccessary!

I would love for Parker to post his ad for everyone to see! Why not?

  4. Smokin' Dawg says:

Of course Parker is attacking Matt’s record, it’s the oldest game in politics. Rather than address real issues, attack your opponent.

Of course, just wait until Matt begins attacking Parker’s record, then things….oh, wait, I forgot. Parker doesn’t have a record to attack because he’s fresh out of college, has never had a real job until just recently, and has zero political experience.

As for taxes, a vote for Parker is most definitely a vote for higher taxes. A new justice complex is a cornerstone of his platform. Where do you think he’s going to get the money for that building? The lottery? Taxes may increase under a Cox administration also, but you can bet it would be if Matt and the board were able to build enough support among the citizens of Starkville for such a project.

  5. MSDawg says:

Substance? A voting record is substance. Isn’t this the voting record Matt has been saying gives him the “experience” needed to be mayor.

Its on local tv, for all to see, and I am sure it will make it to the internet.

  6. Johnathan says:

Cox had to make decisions over the past four years. Leaders make decisions! (They are not always popular)

  7. JRHandi says:

A new justice complex, voting against police officers? The question should be which candidate is going to step up and deal with the real issues in the police department. (1) Why is there not mandentory drug testing for police officers?, (2) why would the Chief hire an officer who was dismissed from another agency promote him to detective and now he is currently under investigation for some of the same things he was dismissed from the other agency for. I want a Mayor and board of alderman that ask these questions. It is time for a change in more than one area of the city.
