Andy Kennedy (Ole Miss) in a world of hurt

This from WLWT in Cincinnati:

“Coach’s Wife Sues, Claiming Lack Of Playing Time”

Seems that Mrs. Kennedy is not happy with their, ahem, personal life.

No lie.

You can’t make this stuff up.

Maybe the Ole Miss athletic department could look for a corporate sponsorship for the basketball program from Viagra……

Third time the charm?

The BOA and Mayor are planning to hold a work session to try to figure how they can actually do something without fighting, name calling and looking rather childish before they have to run for re-election.

Instead of Robert’s Rules of Order, maybe they should adopt James Dobson’s “The Strong Willed Child” as general operation procedure.

Maybe we should pass a bond issue to construct a “Time Out Corner” somewhere in City Hall for elected officials who are rude to their neighbors.

And Wiseman makes 3

What has been rumored for weeks (here and other places) seems to be official. Parker Wiseman is throwing his hat in the race for Mayor. The Democratic primary got a little more crowded.

The thinking was that Parker wouldn’t run against Camp. The next question is “Will Frank Davis run again?”

He has started a Facebook group and is constructing a website at to be launched at http://www.wisemanformayor.com.

This is the info from his Facebook page:

Parker Wiseman was born on August 5, 1980. The son of a college professor and a school teacher, he was raised in Starkville, Mississippi attending public schools and graduating from Starkville High School in 1999.

Parker earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at Mississippi State University. Wiseman attended MSU on the John C. Stennis Scholarship. In 2002 he was elected president of the Student Association and his classmates later named him Mr. MSU. After graduation from MSU, Parker attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, he earned a Masters in Public Administration from the prestigious UNC School of Government, which currently boasts a top five national ranking in the field of city management graduate education.

Beginning in 2005, he spent three years earning a juris doctorate at the University of Mississippi. During his tenure there, he was president of the Law School Student Body, a member of the moot court board, and served as a staff member and the office manager of the Mississippi Law Journal. He graduated from law school magna cum laude in May of 2008.

Most importantly, law school gave Parker the opportunity to meet the love of his life, formerly Lindsey Smith. Lindsey and Parker were married on August 16, 2008. They both feel very blessed to make their home in Starkville where Parker practices law with Knight and Mozingo, PLLC.

Parker’s vision for moving Starkville forward is defined by the following objectives:

1. Ensure that the Starkville Police Department has Resources it Needs to Continue to Keep Our City Safe
2. Develop a Local Economy that Taps Our Resources and Allows Ideas to Profit
3. Use Tax Dollars in a Proactive, Forward Thinking Manner
4. Adopt a Land-use and Transportation Strategy that is Appealing and Economically Friendly

OCEDA out of the rental business

The Multi-Tennant Building appears to be on the table for sale after yesterday’s OCEDA board meeting. Not necessarily a bad idea.

When constructed, the Multi-Tennant was a state of the art office unlike anything else in northeast Mississippi. Now it is starting to show its age.

Cotton Mills moves on

The Dispatch does their “looking forward 2009″ article focusing on Cotton Mills and the hint of a new 700 job project.

FYI, GSDP CEO Jon Maynard will be in for a StarkvilleNow Podcast very soon.

Steve Rogers speaks. Again.

WCBI’s Steve Rogers weighs in with his opinions about the $100,000 a year fees for lobbyist Marty Fuller as a consultant for the Board of Supes. He also tries to gaze into his crystal ball and set part of the municipal election field.

Steve is scheduled to tape a StarkvilleNow podcast this week. Any questions from the peanut gallery for him?

Roads, again…….
