Blake Wilson from the Mississippi Economic Council was in town today for the Marathon Mississippi tour. The breakfast, held at Starfleet Headquarters- Hunter Henry- was an update about what the MEC is doing in the areas of business advocacy, education reform, etc. Basically, the stuff that helps businesses grow and Mississippi succeed.
The audience was full of MSU officials, community leaders and staff members from the GSDP. One glaring group missing was any members of he current Board of Aldermen, Mayor Dan Camp or CAO Lynn Spruill. (Note: I don’t know Rodney Lincoln by sight, so he may have been stuck at a back table.)
One of the top economic development officials for the state is in town and NO ONE from the municipal government can bother to show up to eat grits and sausage.
Pitiful.
New leadership is needed. Too bad we have to wait till next summer to get it.
UPDATE: Got a nice phone call from Matt Cox saying that he did not get an invite and had no idea that it was happening. The Aldermen probably should get a free pass on this, but there is no excuse for the Mayor not to be there.
